Biography
Dr Peter Martin graduated in mechanical engineering from Queen’s University Belfast in 1987 and after working in the aerospace industry he returned to the university to complete a PhD in 1991. He then joined the School as a full member of academic staff specialising in the properties and processing of engineering materials, and he has since become a senior lecturer. From 1993 onwards his teaching and research work has been directed almost entirely to polymer processing, and particularly the thermoforming process. Since 1996 he has lead the University’s Thermoforming Research Group and he has supervised more than 20 PhD programmes concerned with thermoforming. He is the author of more than 100 technical articles on thermoforming and he is currently involved in the EU research programmes/proposals PlugIn and Thermofast, which will be presented at the conference.
