Biography

Andy Eavis joined Thompson Plastics when there were just five employees in 1978. Now he is the 100% shareholder of the Thompson Plastics Group that turns over 60 million euros and employs 600 people.

He graduated with a BSc in Engineering from the University of Leicester and also has a BSc in Mining from the University of Leeds and a certificate of Colliery Management. He is a Chartered Engineer and Fellow of the Institute of Mining Minerals and Fellow of the Institute of Directors.

Abstract of presentation

In the Thermoforming Industry we are clearly competing with several other plastic moulding technologies. I firmly believe most of these have their place but it is up to us moulders to identify what process is best for a particular product.

Clearly, many products - when considering annual numbers, size and property requirements – are suitable for thermoforming. This workshop will investigate the various process parameters and brainstorm ideas as to where our market really lies.
